Micro-Trak MTT4B
The Byonics Micro-Trak Model MTT4B is an 8-watt frequency agile APRS transceiver that operates programmably
within the two meter Amateur radio band. This design is intended to provide an easily implemented
full-function APRS device, and can act as a tracker, digipeater, telemetry transmitter, or as an
interface for compatible weather stations or your own unique applications. The MTT4B has two 'built-in'
telemetry channels, for monitoring the supply voltage and temperature, and 5 additional pins which
may be used for 0-5 volt telemetry or logic-level controls for various applications.
A 10 pin output is designed for plug and play operation with the Byonics TinyTrak4 LCD display adapter,
which will allow you to see other stations as text, program many functions live through an optional
PS/2 Keyboard, and send and receive APRS messages! The MTT4B has been designed primarily as a mobile
transceiver, although it is just as capable as a fixed station digipeater. The unit must use a proper
mobile or base station antenna, and will not operate properly with 'rubber duck' antennae.
Two separate serial ports are assignable to any supported capability, for example, GPS NMEA serial data,
waypoints, text, KISS, etc. This allow you to use the device as a simple tracker and/or digipeater, as
well as with a Display GPS, PC running mapping software, or nearly any device capable of sending serial
data over a wide Baud rate. (Although either serial port can be used for configuration, installing new
firmware requires a connection to Port A, via a 2.5mm 'Kenwood' programming cable, available through
Byonics in either DB-9 or USB serial cables)
